Holiday Season
It is hard to believe that the holiday season is upon us once again. As we publish this edition of the Slurry Digest, we are starting to see
the weather cool down, and enjoying some great football.(GEAUX TIGERS) Hunting season will also be starting soon. It seems fall is just a great
time
of year.
Join with me now in committing to take the time to enjoy the holidays. Slow down just a bit and remember all we have to be thankful for at
Thanksgiving. It is so easy to take things for granted.
Remember why we celebrate Christmas. It truly is so much more than the lights and wrapping that we get caught up in.
Happy Holidays to all of you. Even if that sounds a little early, remember to take a few moments each day and enjoy the life that we have, and
the time that we have been given.

HEC News Flow
Well, it has been over a year since HEC began sending out its quarterly Slurry Digest Newsletter. When we started this
project, the intention was to put out informative, application based subject matter that would be a value to our customers. Recently we have
added video to our website and newsletters. These videos will provide a visual aid to the technical application articles. I hope you have
enjoyed our efforts, and will continue to
accept this form of communication from HEC.

Slurry Expertise
What can HEC offer your company? What difference does HEC make in the selection of equipment for my slurry process?
These are questions that are answered almost every day here at HEC. HEC has the experience and know how to select the right equipment for the
toughest slurry applications. We have seen time and time again where vendors have put good equipment into slurry service with bad results.
HEC knows that Slurry Service means determining alot more about the process and sizing of equipment, than that of standard duty
equipment.

Clarkson Valve Maintenance
Your process is using the best knife gate valve on the market, the Clarkson KGA and KGD series valves. Now that you
have this equipment in service, it is time to think about the maintenance needed to keep them operating at their best efficiencies.
The valve should be lubricated every 100 cycles for the 3" to 10" valves and every 50 cycles for 12" and larger valves. The use of
DOW 111 silicone based lubricant is recommended by the manufacturer.
The gate can be sprayed with a silicone lubricant as well as being wiped clean occasionally.
These simple procedures will help insure that the life of your valve sleeves and flanges last as long as possible. HEC stocks
the Dow 111 lubricant and replacement sleeves and flanges for the KGA and KGD series valves in our Baton Rouge, LA warehouse.
